Venue: Nativity Church

There would be games, trainings and spirituals. This camp would be a perfect opportunity to catch up with our fellow YCS members and to strengthen the bonds between each other!

Hey everyone,

3rd of July was our AGM or Annual General Meeting where the national and school reports will be made, and electing the national executive committee or exco for the term of 2009/10.

Only five got to stay over but the most important thing is that all the exco members and school reps attended the sessions on Saturday.

Basically, we talked about the problems YCS faced and what we could do to solve the problems. We also talked about YCS international and Asia YCS, their goals and how they managed their events so well and on time. We really shared what we have been keeping in our hearts, what (in our opinion) went wrong in YCS.

There was another session in which we write about our fellow YCS exco's weaknesses. It was a great experience yet a painful one as each member find out their weakness. And we really hope that we could improve on it. Hopefully we get to accept it and really work on it!

We also had to write, on a piece of paper, who we respect, who we disrespect, who understand us the most and who does not understand us the most. And we share about it. I was glad that many could share easily.

We also invited a friar over. We wrote (on a huge piece of paper), what YCS means to us. We played sheriads and learn that as message get passed on, it might be different from the original message and that people may get it wrong. We also learn about identifying god's voice. And that sometimes we listen to the wrong voice and stray. The game was that one person is to be blindfolded and his/her team has to tell him/her how to move to each point and the opposing team send two members as distraction.

The friar had a bag of papers. Each with words like Fortitude, Knowlegde, Love and etc. And we prayed that whatever paper we pick, it reads what god feels that we need. It was really a very touching moment. We are glad that he came over as we learned alot from him.

Anyway, the exco camp was really an awesome learning experience for alot of us. And I would like to thank last year's exco for a whole year of service! Wooo! Hopefully we could maintain it or even do better!

Its time to do your part once again.
Our annual Flag Day is here!

Date: 25th and 26th October 2008
Venue: Nativity Church/ St Annes Church
Time: Saturday 3pm to 7.30pm
Sunday 8am to 7.30pm

Individual Schools have your own timeslots.
Consent forms have been given out to respective leaders.
Please find and confirm your allocated timeslot and enjoy yourself while flagging!

We have to raise funds so work it yourself and the harvest would be great if we work as a team!
(Those who are unable to make it, please inform me personally.)
Attendance would be taken as CIP hours will be given accordingly.

Mission Trip

Good Day,

We are in the midst of planning a Mission Trip to Philippines, Payatas and Erap.
It would be sometime in December this year.
During this trip, we'll be doing our mission in Paaralang Pantao, School for Humanity.

We will encounter the lives of the struggling poor through interaction with the children of Paaralang Pantao and build a dialogue with the children and people we meet.

It is going to be a six days mission trip whereby we'll plan lessons for children as we follow their school hours and conduct lessons there.

We will also bring some children out on a field trip and they would be more then happy to be able to go for an excursion to their zoo in Philippines.

Make a change in their lives.

Oh yeah, some news..Daphne resigned from YCS cos she needs to take care of her newborn child at home but may we always pray for her and her family, to be safe and healthy! The XXIII World Youth day is going to take place in Sydney, Australia from 15th to 20 July 2008. During the WYD a Youth festival will taking place by the co –organizing effort of YCS & YCW. And that youth festival will be based on the real life survey of young people between 15-35 years old. So for that IYCS is doing a survey in Asian YCS Family which will help them to understand the present reality and needs of our students.

Hellos....

Yesterday 2th of June was our AGM or Annual General Meeting where the national and school reports will be made, and electing the national executive committee or exco for the term of 2007/08.

Started slightly off-schedule cause some people were late but I'm sure everyone enjoyed it cause they can meet their friends from other schools after a few months of not seeing each other.

The report made by the schools and the national level inform the members present on what the movement has done for the past year and what they would like to do in the following year. After the reports, it was time for lunch with food catered by some kind guy (you know who you are! (:)

After that it was back to the meeting room for the rite of initiation for some of the members present who fulifiled the requirements to get initiated as full members of YCS. The rite was conducted by Father Henry Siew, the spiritual director of YCS. Then after, we had the election started. The voters had the right to choose the people they would like to pick but at the same time could vote all 8 at once. However, there are 8 positions and 8 nominees so all 8 nominees made the new 45th Exco from mid-2007 till mid-2008

AN EVENING OF SONG & MELODIES OF PRAISE

Saints Peter and Paul are pleased to have the world renowned A-cappella Choir of Villach (Austria) performing for her church building fund on 10 June 2007 at 8pm at University Cultural Centre. This Choir has received the "Ferdinand Grossmann Award" for outstanding achievement in choral music.

One often has to pay like 100-200 Euro to attend such a performance in Europe. Tickets are now priced at only $25 each as we have a generous sponsor who brought them to Singapore. This is a great chance not to be missed!

Today we will talk about the recent suicidal cases that have been occuring within the youth.That's right, it's among us. More teens have been using suicide as a way out. Now as catholics/christians or ANYONE, we all know that suicide is NEVER the way out.

Hey guys! Flag Day's been a tiring event yeah? But we're all glad that we did our best to raise money for YCS (:. 777% for Jesus!

I really hope everyone can come even though it is nearing the exams, do your best to take some time to spend with God and draw strength from him to help you in your exams. Bring your friends along as non-members of YCS, including non-Christians are all welcome to join! Moreover, the object of this activity is to prepare participants for thier exams and provide everyone with opportunity for praise and worship, prayer and reflection.

If you do not know how to get to Montfort Secondary, just meet up with the Montfort guys at Hougang MRT at 12.45pm.

Price: $5 per ticket
Dresscode: Formal (no flip-flops, berms, shorts) You'll be attending mass, so please dress appropriately.

David Weekend

David Weekend organised by the Youth Ministry Office, is a time for Catholic youths from across the Archdiocese to come together for an experience in prayer and discipleship.

-Do you desire an "experiential" faith - that you can say for sure why you do what you do?
-Do you desire to "walk the talk"?
-Do you long to "connect"?
-Do you want to "live in hope"?

If you do, then come and begin this experience with us. David of the Old Testament is an example for us. Do you want to know his key? It was his relationship with God. A relationship that gave him so much conviction that when he, as a young boy, confronted Goliath the Philistine, he said "I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts." (1 Samuel 17:45)

The weekend will be a time when you will be equipped with basic tools for this walk in faith - prayer, word & journaling. Tools that may look like the 5 little stones in David's hands. But don't underestimate them.

It doesn't also just stop there. We want to invite you to be in small groups that will be facilitated by the staff at the Youth Centre. That is the time that discipleship begins. More "stones"! Learning to use the "sling"! We will tell you more. But in the mean time, come for this weekend!

We are planning to run identical weekends monthly from now till Oct. The dates are as follows:
14-16 July, 25-27 August, 22-24 September, 27-29 October

The venue will be at the Youth Centre. Time from Friday 5.30pm (dinner included) to Sunday 1pm (after lunch & Mass). The cost? $25 per person per weekend.

Call us to register or approach your parish youth priest / youth coordinator. For the first weekend in July, the closing date is 12 July.

Hey guys. In case you all didn't know, there will be rehearsals for the upcoming 12th august Ycs Anniversary this saturday, that's 5/8/2006, 11 am.

The Venue would be at Huisuo, YCS HQ (at 2 Highland Rd). But the rehearsals would probably commence at IHM, Imaculate Heart Of Mary Church. It's just next to Huisuo.

Please do get all your skits/performances ready by this Saturday and good luck people, pray that you all will have a great time and fun this saturday! (:
